The churchyard is still open for burials of bodies and cremated
remains.
If
you live in the parish, or have a genuine family connection with
the churchyard, then it may be possible for burial or interment
to take place here. You should ask your funeral director to make
enquiries on your behalf.
The
churchyard is maintained at the expense of the Parochial Church
Council, with occasional grants from Gosport Borough Council. We
make no charge to families for this, and any donations will be gratefully
received.
Donations
can be sent to: The Administrator, St Mary the Virgin Church,
Rowner Lane, Gosport PO13 9SU.
There
are many interesting old graves, the latest marked stone being of
1680 in the southern section near the old church.
There
are strict Regulations governing the type of stone and wording and
what can be put around graves and cremated remains. These are available
from the Administrator at the above address.
